This winery enjoys an elevation of 1200 feet and deep alluvial soils deposited by the nearby Colorado River. The first five acres of Alamosa’s vineyard, Tio Pancho Ranch, was planted in the spring of 1996 with the help of friends and family. Jim and Karen Johnson, owners, started with the Viognier, a wonderful, aromatic white grape of the Northern Rhone region of France. Today the Johnsons create a number of varietals for their friends and clients to enjoy.
