 Brennan Vineyards
Comanche, TX
In 1997 the Brennans bought the historic McCrary House in Comanche, Texas as a weekend retreat. A charming limestone home built in 1879, the McCrary House is a landmark recognized by the Texas Historical Commission as one of the oldest homes in west central Texas. They enjoyed their Comanche retreat for several years and decided to purchase 33 acres adjacent to the original McCrary property. As wine enthusiasts, they explored the idea of growing a few grapes. Soil and water studies were promising, and the grapes from the original five-acre vineyard did extremely well. They considered the Cabernet made from the first harvest to be comparable in quality to their favorite wines, and became convinced that Brennan Vineyards could offer a variety of unique and marketable wines to customers from Texas and beyond.
